In a few meters we found Pontevedra's old quarter, declared Historic-Artistic Ensemble in 1951. Is one of the best preserved in Galicia, and includes the zone thas was within the old city, behind the five gates of the medieval wall. The most representative squares of the city take their names from the trade that was formerly developed in them: Herrería (Forge), Verdura (Vegetables), Pedreira (Masonry), where is the Manor of Mugartegui, headquarters of the regulatory council of wine with denomination of origin Rías Baixas, or the Leña Square, with a sixteenth-century stone cross and the central buildings of the Museum of Pontevedra, are of great interest for the visitor, both for its lively terraces as for its incomparable surroundings.
